I used to truly believe that “focusing on my health” meant that I needed to specifically and only focus all of my energy on weight loss. It’s the main message we’re sold, to become thinner is to become healthier. Sounds familiar, right?
However, health actually affects so many different aspects of your life. Focusing on your holistic health means taking care of your entire self — mind, body, and spirit. Really begin to switch the energy spent on chasing smaller numbers to balancing the most critical pillars of health: physical, mental, nutritional, and financial.
Below are 5 simple ways to approach a healthier lifestyle that have made all the difference for me!
1. Throw out the scale!
Bodies are complex. And it’s literally just giving us a number that forces us to obsessively question our food choices. Our weight is constantly going to fluctuate by the hour depending on how much water we drink, the time of day, the time of month, and certain medications. Plus, that little “magic” number is not the gateway to happiness. Trust me, you don’t need the scale to prove that you’re doing a good job and making the best choices for you.
2. Unfollow social media accounts that make you feel bad about yourself and replace them with ones that uplift you.
Seriously, social media unfollow cleanses are the only kind of cleanses that have ever worked.
